The satisfaction of refreshing red, white, and blue pops, happy wet children, and exotic bright sparklers all make for a memorable 4th of July.
As the weekend grew closer to the anticipated firework show, I became more sentimental. I watched my boys enjoy life. I appreciated our dear friends and family and the freedoms we share. Just to name a few; I am thankful that I am not restricted to one child, but I can enjoy the blessings of many children, we can pray to God in public, and our family members can receive love no matter how unique they are.
I have never been more proud to be an American. I am truly thankful and humbled by the opportunities I have and the opportunities my friends and family have. We need holidays that remind us to slow down and appreciate what has been given to us.
As I watched fireworks burst into magnificent color, I looked over my shoulder and saw my baby cradled in his daddy's arms--he was sleeping and he was safe. He doesn't know it, but it is because of freedom that he is safe.
Thank you God for blessing America, I don't want to take it for granted.
